Rawalpindi, July 19, 2025: The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has brought pride to the nation by winning two prestigious awards at the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) 2025, one of the world’s most celebrated military aviation events, held in the United Kingdom.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the PAF’s JF-17 Thunder Block III, making its debut at RIAT, won the “Spirit of the Meet” Trophy—a rare accolade awarded to the aircraft that best represents the spirit, excitement, and ethos of the show. The aircraft, known for its advanced capabilities, flew to the UK from Pakistan using continuous air-to-air refueling.

Adding to this remarkable achievement, the PAF’s C-130H Hercules, featuring a specially designed livery themed “Eyes in the Skies,” secured the “Concours d’Elegance” Trophy. This award recognizes the best-maintained and most aesthetically presented aircraft at the airshow.

PAF’s participation and success at RIAT-2025 was widely applauded during the Air Chiefs’ Conference, where global military aviation leaders praised the professional excellence and aircraft presentation of the Pakistani contingent.

Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, congratulated the team, stating that “keeping the nation’s flag high has always been the hallmark of the Pakistan Air Force.” He described the twin victories as a testament to the PAF’s professionalism, technical prowess, and relentless pursuit of excellence. He also lauded the team for proudly showcasing Pakistan’s potential on a global stage.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also extended his congratulations, hailing the PAF’s performance at RIAT-2025 as “a moment of national pride.” He praised the leadership, pilots, and technical crew of the JF-17 Thunder Block III and C-130H for their competence and dedication. “By the grace of Allah Almighty, the visionary leadership of the PAF and the professional skills of its personnel are earning Pakistan international respect,” he said.

The Prime Minister also recalled PAF’s battlefield success earlier this year, where it shot down six enemy aircraft, reaffirming that Pakistan’s airspace remains in capable and vigilant hands.

PAF’s consistent recognition at RIAT—having previously won honors in 2006, 2016, and 2018—further solidifies its reputation as a world-class air force that continues to impress with operational readiness, innovation, and discipline.

These awards were not only a recognition of outstanding flying and technical skills but also a reflection of Pakistan’s growing footprint in the global aviation arena.
