Rawalpindi, August 1, 2025: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir on Friday reaffirmed that the enduring friendship between Pakistan and China remains steadfast despite changing global dynamics, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Speaking at a ceremony held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi to mark the 98th founding anniversary of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA), Field Marshal Munir emphasized the deep-rooted and time-tested nature of the bilateral strategic partnership.

The event was attended by senior military officials from both countries. Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong served as the chief guest, accompanied by Defence Attaché Major General Wang Zhong, other Chinese embassy officials, and senior officers from Pakistan’s army, navy, and air force.

Field Marshal Munir warmly welcomed the Chinese delegation and conveyed congratulations on behalf of the Pakistan Army. In his address, he lauded the PLA’s historic contributions to China’s national defence and development over the past century.

Highlighting the strength of bilateral military cooperation, the COAS remarked:

“Our friendship with China is unique, time-tested, and exceptionally resilient. The PLA and Pakistan Army are true brothers-in-arms. Our enduring partnership is central to promoting regional stability and securing our shared strategic interests.”

Ambassador Jiang, in his remarks, thanked the COAS for hosting the commemorative event. He paid tribute to the sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces in the fight against terrorism and reiterated China’s unwavering commitment to its strategic partnership with Islamabad.

The ISPR noted that the ceremony served as a reaffirmation of the two nations’ strong military ties and mutual resolve to uphold peace and stability in the region.
