Islamabad, August 14, 2025: The foreign ministers of Pakistan, China, and Afghanistan will meet in Kabul on August 20 for trilateral talks, a private news channel reported Thursday, citing diplomatic sources.

The meeting is expected to bring together Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi.

According to sources, the agenda will focus on enhancing counterterrorism cooperation and exploring the expansion of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to include Afghanistan.

Earlier this month, Muttaqi was scheduled to visit Pakistan on August 5, but the trip was cancelled by both sides, officially citing “technical” reasons. However, it later emerged that the UN Security Council had not granted permission for the visit, as Muttaqi remains on its sanctions list of Taliban members.

Following the Kabul talks, the Chinese foreign minister is expected to travel to Pakistan the next day, sources added.
