Multan, September 7, 2025: City Police Officer (CPO) Multan on Sunday ordered the evacuation of Jalalpur Pirwala town, warning that the protective embankment built near the Chenab River could collapse at any time.
The CPO urged residents to vacate their homes immediately and move to safer locations. Police teams also made announcements through mosques across Jalalpur Pirwala to alert citizens.
To strengthen rescue operations, authorities have arranged five thermal-technology drones to help locate stranded people. Additionally, 50 more boats have been deployed for Jalalpur Tehsil, with officials expressing hope that all trapped residents will be shifted to safety by tonight.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued another high-flood alert for the Sutlej River. According to a PDMA spokesperson, the Indian High Commission has shared updated flood-related information with Pakistan, warning of severe flooding downstream of Harike and Ferozepur. Water levels in the Sutlej are expected to rise further in the coming hours.
The PDMA stated that civil administration, Pakistan Army units, and other departments remain on high alert to ensure the protection of lives and property.
