Islamabad/New York, September 12, 2025: Pakistan on Friday strongly condemned Israel’s recent strikes on Qatar, calling them a “flagrant violation” of Qatar’s sovereignty, international law, and the UN Charter.

Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan, in his weekly briefing, described the attack as a “highly provocative and reckless action” and urged the international community to hold Israel accountable for what he termed “unprovoked and unlawful aggression.”

“Pakistan expresses complete solidarity with the brotherly State of Qatar,” Khan said, adding that the strikes were “yet another manifestation of Israel’s disregard for international peace and security, and its policy of destabilising the region.”

Following the September 9 attack on Doha, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid an official visit to Qatar, where he met Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The prime minister conveyed Pakistan’s strongest condemnation of the assault, condolences over civilian casualties, and reiterated Islamabad’s full support for Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also underscored that the Muslim Ummah must stand united against such provocations.

Khan noted that Pakistan, at Qatar’s request, called for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, co-sponsored by Algeria and Somalia, to address the situation.

At the UNSC session, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative Ambassador Asim Iftikhar warned that Israel’s attack was a deliberate attempt to sabotage diplomacy and derail ongoing peace efforts, particularly negotiations over Gaza. He described the strikes as part of a “broader pattern of Israeli aggression” across Gaza, Syria, Lebanon, Iran, and Yemen, in violation of international humanitarian law.

Ambassador Iftikhar reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for Qatar’s mediation role in the Middle East and reiterated Islamabad’s backing of a two-state solution, stressing that peace and regional stability cannot be achieved under continued Israeli aggression.
