Islamabad, September 22, 2025: The government has decided to take Parliament into confidence over the recently signed Pakistan-Saudi Arabia strategic defence agreement.

According to parliamentary sources, a National Assembly session has been scheduled for September 29 at 5 p.m., where Defence Minister Khawaja Asif will deliver a policy statement on the pact. The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has already sent a summary to the prime minister for approval.

The two-week-long assembly session will also include the government’s regular agenda and the presentation of several bills for legislation, sources said.

The decision follows the signing of a landmark strategic mutual defence agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on September 18 during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Riyadh. Under the pact, any aggression against one country will be considered an attack on both.

The joint statement, issued after the signing by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, said the agreement reflects both nations’ resolve to strengthen their security, promote defence cooperation, and work jointly for peace and stability in the region and beyond.
