Colombo, September 24, 2025: The Pakistan women’s cricket team kicked off their training camp in Colombo on Wednesday ahead of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.

The Women in Green arrived in the Sri Lankan capital late Tuesday, as the eight-nation tournament is set to begin on September 30 in Guwahati, India, and run until November 2. Co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, the event will see Pakistan play all their matches in Colombo under the ICC’s hybrid model, designed in light of political tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad.

Pakistan held their first training session at the Ranasinghe Premadasa Stadium, focusing on batting, bowling, and fielding under the supervision of head coach Muhammad Wasim.

Before the World Cup formally begins, Pakistan will play two key warm-up fixtures:

  • September 25: vs Sri Lanka
  • September 28: vs South Africa

Skipper Fatima Sana, speaking before departure in Lahore, said the team was “well prepared” despite losing the recent home ODI series to South Africa 2-1. Pakistan did claim victory in the final ODI of the series.

“There is no extra pressure for the match against India as all World Cup games carry similar pressure. We will treat that match like any other,” Fatima said.

She added that Pakistan’s spirited chase of a 300-plus target in the second ODI against South Africa, which ended in a narrow 25-run defeat, showed the team’s growing confidence and direction.

Fatima emphasized the importance of starting strong: “We will try to take a good start against Bangladesh and then move forward with momentum.”

Pakistan’s Group Stage Schedule – ICC Women’s World Cup 2025

  • October 2: vs Bangladesh
  • October 5: vs India
  • October 8: vs Australia
  • October 15: vs England
  • October 18: vs New Zealand
  • October 21: vs South Africa
  • October 24: vs Sri Lanka
