Karachi, September 30, 2025: Ethiopian Ambassador to Pakistan Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula on Tuesday called on Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in Karachi to discuss expanding cooperation between the two countries in multiple sectors, including trade, investment, aviation, tourism, culture, and climate change.

The two sides also explored new avenues of collaboration in agriculture, agro-processing, education, and health to further strengthen bilateral relations.

Dr. Jemal praised the Sindh government’s recent initiative of hosting a high-level Ethiopian delegation for a Green Dialogue at the CM House, calling it a significant step toward institutionalizing cooperation against climate change. He also briefed the chief minister on preparations in Addis Ababa for Pakistan’s upcoming Single Country Exhibition in October, expected to draw a large number of delegates.

Highlighting the growing connectivity between Pakistan and Africa, the ambassador lauded Ethiopian Airlines’ contribution, describing it as central to Pakistan’s “Look Africa” and “Engage Africa” policies.

CM Shah, in response, hailed Ethiopian Airlines as a “game-changer” for Pakistan-Africa relations and praised the ambassador’s role in fostering closer bilateral ties. “The carrier has become a key instrument of our Africa-focused policies,” he said, adding that Sindh would continue efforts to expand cooperation with Ethiopia.

Honorary Consul of Ethiopia in Karachi, Ibrahim Khalid Tawab, also attended the meeting.
