Quetta, September 30, 2025: At least 10 people were killed and 32 others injured on Tuesday when a powerful explosion ripped through a busy street near the Frontier Corps (FC) headquarters in Quetta, officials confirmed.
Balochistan Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar said the injured had been shifted to Civil Hospital Quetta and the Trauma Centre. “Ten people have been killed while 32 were injured in the blast,” he told reporters, adding that six of the injured remained in critical condition.
Civil Lines Police Station House Officer (SHO) Ameen Jaffar earlier confirmed that eight bodies were brought to Civil Hospital following the attack. According to SSP Special Operations Muhammad Baloch, the blast occurred when a vehicle turned from Model Town towards Hali Road, in close proximity to the FC headquarters.
Television footage showed scenes of chaos as the powerful detonation shook the area, sending people running for cover.
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti strongly condemned the incident, calling it a “terrorist attack.” In a post on the provincial government’s X account, he said security forces responded swiftly, killing four assailants. “Terrorists cannot weaken the nation’s resolve through cowardly acts. The sacrifices of the people and security forces will not go in vain,” Bugti said, pledging continued action to restore peace in the province.
President Asif Ali Zardari termed the bombing a suicide attack and linked it to militants from the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). “The suicide attack in Quetta was carried out by the Fitna-al-Khawarij, the misguided extremists acting on India’s agenda,” the President’s Secretariat said in a statement. He praised the security forces for their timely response and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured, including FC personnel.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also praised the security forces for killing terrorists of Fitna-al-Hindustan involved in the Quetta terrorist attack.
The prime minister, in a statement, prayed for the swift recovery of the personnel and civilians injured in the attack.
He said that the nefarious designs of those who harmed the lives and property of innocent and defenseless citizens would be crushed.
“The elements attempting to harm Pakistan’s integrity will be dealt with exemplary punishment. The government, security forces, and the entire nation are determined to eradicate terrorism and Fitna-al-Hindustan from the country,” the prime minister added.
Following the attack, the Balochistan Health Department declared an emergency in major hospitals, including Civil Hospital, BMC Hospital, and the Trauma Centre, according to Health Secretary Mujeebur Rehman. Medical staff were instructed to remain on duty.
Speaking during a visit to Civil Hospital, Minister Kakar reiterated that “a major terrorist plot was planned,” adding that most of the injured were civilians.
The blast comes amid a worsening security situation in Balochistan, where militants, including the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), have stepped up attacks in recent months, increasingly targeting security forces with high-casualty tactics.
