Islamabad, October 5, 2025: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday departed for Malaysia on a three-day official visit at the invitation of his Malaysian counterpart, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said in a statement.

A high-level delegation — including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, several federal ministers, and senior government officials — is accompanying the prime minister, according to the Foreign Office (FO).

Before his departure, the premier said he was looking forward to a comprehensive exchange of views with his Malaysian counterpart and expressed confidence that Pakistan–Malaysia relations would continue to strengthen through expanded economic and strategic cooperation.

“I will be undertaking an official visit to Malaysia from October 5–7 on the invitation of my dear brother, PM Ibrahim. Greatly looking forward to a comprehensive exchange of views on our common desire to enhance trade and economic engagement as well as bilateral cooperation in various fields,” PM Shehbaz wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

During the visit, the two leaders are expected to hold bilateral talks and discuss key regional and global developments, the FO said.

“The two leaders will also deliberate on enhancing bilateral cooperation in trade to explore opportunities for further cooperation in IT, telecom, the Halal industry, investment, education, energy, infrastructure, the digital economy, and people-to-people ties,” the statement added.

The prime ministers are also expected to witness the signing of several agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) covering existing and new areas of cooperation.

The FO said the visit underscores Pakistan’s continued commitment to strengthening its partnership with Malaysia, describing the two countries’ relations as “rooted in mutual respect, shared interests, and close cooperation across a wide range of sectors.”

“The Pakistani side looks forward to mutually beneficial engagements in Malaysia, building on the solid foundations of friendship and cooperation that exist between our two nations,” the statement concluded.
