Lahore, October 6, 2025: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made two changes to its Test lineup for the upcoming home series against South Africa, releasing fast bowler Aamir Jamal and left-arm spinner Faisal Akram.
Following their exclusion, the Pakistan Test squad has been reduced to 16 players, down from the original 18-member squad announced last week.
South Africa — the reigning ICC World Test Championship (2023–25) winners — will begin their tour with the first Test at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium from October 12 to 16, followed by the second Test at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from October 20 to 24.
The two-match series will be followed by a white-ball leg, featuring three T20 Internationals and three One-Day Internationals, scheduled between October 28 and November 8. The PCB said the limited-overs squad will be announced at a later date.
According to the board, the red-ball squad will begin training under head coach Azhar Mahmood and National Cricket Academy (NCA) coaches later today, continuing until October 8. Players who recently featured in the ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025 are expected to join the camp on October 4.
The Test series marks Pakistan’s return to home red-ball cricket following their tour of Sri Lanka earlier this year, as the team looks to build consistency under a new coaching setup and leadership structure.
