Pakistan repels cross-border attack, over 200 Taliban militants killed

Rawalpindi, October 12, 2025: Pakistan’s military said on Sunday that its forces decisively repelled an unprovoked cross-border attack launched overnight on 11–12 October by the Afghan Taliban and an Indian-sponsored militant faction, Fitna al-Khawarij (FAK), along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border.

According to an official statement, the assault — involving intense firing and limited ground raids — was aimed at destabilising Pakistan’s frontier regions and facilitating terrorist infiltration. Exercising the right of self-defence, Pakistan’s Armed Forces carried out precision strikes, aerial attacks and targeted raids on militant camps and support networks located inside Afghan territory.

The military said its operations targeted Taliban posts, terrorist training facilities and command centres affiliated with Fitna al-Khawarij (FAK), Fitna al-Hindustan (FAH) and ISKP/Daesh. The statement added that all possible measures were taken to prevent civilian casualties.

Pakistan’s armed forces claimed that the retaliatory operations inflicted severe losses on Taliban and affiliated terrorist groups, with over 200 militants killed and “a significantly higher number” injured. The statement added that multiple Taliban camps, posts, and headquarters were destroyed or rendered inoperative, while 21 hostile positions on the Afghan side of the border were briefly captured by Pakistani troops.

During the overnight skirmishes, 23 Pakistani soldiers embraced martyrdom while 29 others sustained injuries in the line of duty. The military described the soldiers as “brave sons of the soil” who defended Pakistan’s territorial integrity with “unmatched courage and determination.”

The armed forces reiterated their unwavering resolve to protect Pakistan’s borders and neutralize terror threats, warning that continued attacks from Afghan soil would invite persistent and targeted responses.

Pakistan also voiced concern over the timing of the assault, noting that it coincided with the Taliban foreign minister’s visit to India, which Islamabad described as the “biggest sponsor of terrorism in the region.”

“We will not tolerate the treacherous use of Afghan soil for terrorism against Pakistan,” the statement said, urging the Taliban Government to take immediate and verifiable action against groups such as FAK, FAH, and ISKP/Daesh.

The military warned that if the Taliban continued to sponsor terrorist outfits in collusion with India, Pakistan would “not rest until the menace of terrorism emanating from Afghanistan is completely eliminated.”

There was no immediate response from the Afghan Taliban government in Kabul, and independent verification of the reported 200-plus Taliban fatalities was not available at the time of publication.
