Lahore, October 14, 2025: Authorities have uncovered a coordinated fake news network allegedly behind the spread of fabricated information regarding the recent Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) incident, with a list of key operatives reportedly compiled.

According to official sources, the Government of Pakistan has launched a major crackdown against misinformation campaigns, with cases being prepared under the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA). The FIA Cyber Crime Wing and other special units are expected to make arrests soon.

Investigators have identified a “deepfake lab” suspected of producing doctored videos and audio clips related to the unrest. Forensic analysis of the material is underway, and major social media platforms have been formally notified to remove fake content within 24 hours.

Officials have also proposed permanent suspension of accounts found repeatedly spreading disinformation. Citizens have been warned that legal action may be taken against those sharing or amplifying unverified content.

The government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy toward hate-driven propaganda targeting state institutions and is tracing overseas networks allegedly operating from India and Afghanistan. Financial facilitators and organized trolling cells are also under investigation, with suspicious transactions being closely monitored.

Diplomatic measures are being considered against foreign individuals linked to the campaign, including Interpol Red Notices and international legal cooperation. Media outlets and digital influencers have been instructed to verify all material before publication to prevent further spread of disinformation.
