Islamabad, October 16, 2025: The Islamabad district administration on Thursday sealed the offices of the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) following a series of violent protests staged by the politico-religious party earlier this week.
According to official sources cited by local media, TLP offices located in Barakahu, Sowan, and other parts of the federal capital were sealed by district authorities as part of a broader security and administrative response.
The move came just hours after the Punjab government announced its decision to request the federal government to impose a ban on what it termed an “extremist party,” following days of violent unrest linked to the TLP’s demonstrations.
The decision was taken during a high-level law and order meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in Lahore, where provincial leadership approved “extraordinary measures” to reassert the state’s writ.
Earlier this week, law enforcement agencies launched a large-scale crackdown on TLP protesters and dismantled their protest camp in Muridke, leading to fierce clashes and multiple arrests.
Violence erupted after TLP workers attempted to march towards Islamabad in defiance of a ban on public gatherings under Section 144, reportedly to express solidarity with Gaza and Palestine.
According to a senior police official, one Station House Officer (SHO) was martyred and 48 police personnel were injured — 17 of them by gunfire — during confrontations with the protesters.
The unrest also resulted in extensive property damage, with at least 40 government and private vehicles set ablaze and several shops torched.
Authorities confirmed that at least three TLP workers and a passerby were killed in the clashes, while around 30 civilians sustained injuries.
The federal and provincial governments have since vowed strict action against those involved in the violence, with officials warning of further legal measures to prevent such unrest in the future.
