Islamabad, October 16, 2025: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday lauded the Muslim World League (MWL) for its “highly significant role” in promoting the true image of Islam globally and advancing the collective interests of the Muslim Ummah.
He expressed these views during a meeting with Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary General of the Muslim World League and Chairman of the Organisation of Muslim Scholars, who called on him in Islamabad.
Welcoming Dr. Al-Issa to Pakistan, the prime minister commended his “wise and visionary leadership,” noting that the MWL has been instrumental in fostering mutual respect and understanding among different religions, beliefs, and civilizations.
The prime minister particularly appreciated the international conference on the education of women and girls in the Muslim world held earlier this year in collaboration with the MWL, describing it as a “highly commendable initiative.” He assured Pakistan’s full cooperation in organizing similar events in the future.
Highlighting the enduring brotherly relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, Prime Minister Shehbaz extended his best wishes to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud.
He also acknowledged the “remarkable and crucial role” of Saudi Arabia and other Muslim countries in the Gaza peace agreement and in raising a united voice for the oppressed Palestinian people at the international level.
Dr. Al-Issa thanked the prime minister for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to him during his visit to Pakistan.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar, and Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki also attended the meeting.
