Hong Kong, November 9, 2025: Pakistan stormed to a commanding 44-run victory over Kuwait to lift the Hong Kong Sixes 2025 trophy at Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok on Sunday, capping a dominant campaign with a dazzling all-round display.
Batting first, Pakistan came out firing as Abdul Samad smashed Yasin Patel’s second delivery for six, while the bowler crumbled under pressure, conceding three wides in the opening over. Partner Khawaja Nafay joined the assault, clearing the ropes off his first ball to propel Pakistan to a blistering 26 runs from the first over.
Kuwait clawed back briefly when Meet Bhavsar removed Nafay for a quickfire 22 off six balls (2 fours, 2 sixes), leaving Pakistan 33-1 in 1.4 overs.
Skipper Abbas Afridi entered with intent, hammering consecutive sixes to keep the scoring momentum alive, as Samad continued his onslaught with a flurry of boundaries and maximums.
By the end of the fourth over, Pakistan had surged to a formidable 95-1, courtesy of Samad’s three successive sixes and Afridi’s power hitting. Bhavsar struck again, dismissing Samad for a stunning 42 off just 13 balls (2 fours, 5 sixes), while Shahid Aziz fell for a duck, momentarily halting Pakistan’s charge at 95-3.
Maaz Sadaqat steadied the innings with Afridi, who unleashed a late fireworks display in the final over. Afridi remained unbeaten on a breathtaking 52 off 11 balls, laced with two fours and seven sixes, steering Pakistan to a mammoth 136 in six overs.
Kuwait began their chase aggressively as Adnan Idrees smashed two towering sixes in Shahid Aziz’s opening over, which went for 32 runs. However, Mohammad Shahzad halted the charge, dismissing Idrees for a rapid 30 off eight balls (five sixes), leaving Kuwait at 33-1.
Despite brief resistance from Bilal Tahir and Bhavsar, Pakistan’s bowlers regained control. Maaz Sadaqat produced a brilliant spell, claiming three quick wickets, including Mohamed Shafeeq LBW on the first ball of his third over, nearly securing a hat-trick.
Bhavsar continued to fight with crucial boundaries, but Sadaqat’s precision kept the scoring in check, leaving Kuwait needing 44 runs off the final over.
Abdul Samad then sealed the victory in emphatic fashion, dismissing Kuwait for 92, to hand Pakistan a comprehensive 44-run triumph and the coveted Hong Kong Sixes 2025 championship.
