Islamabad, November 10, 2025: The Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Aeen Pakistan (Movement for the Protection of the Constitution of Pakistan), an alliance of opposition parties, has announced that it will boycott the voting process on the 27th Constitutional Amendment, declaring the proposed legislation to be “against the spirit of the Constitution.”

The announcement came after a meeting of the alliance chaired by Mehmood Khan Achakzai, which was attended by Raja Nasir Abbas, Hamid Khan, Noor-ul-Haq Qadri, and Humayun Mohmand.

According to the statement issued by the movement, the 27th Amendment represents a direct violation of Pakistan’s constitutional framework, and its members will not participate in any voting or polling process related to it.

“We will make every possible effort to ensure that the government fails to pass the 27th Amendment from the Senate today,” said Senator Ali Zafar, reaffirming the alliance’s stance.

The statement further declared that taking part in an unconstitutional act would amount to a deviation from the principle of constitutional supremacy. It argued that the proposed amendment undermines the basic structure of the Constitution, the balance of parliamentary powers, and federal principles.

The Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Aeen Pakistan also asserted that Parliament has no authority to pass a unilateral constitutional amendment and that the 27th Amendment lacks national consensus.

The alliance emphasized that its protest would continue through constitutional, legal, and democratic means, terming the proposed amendment unconstitutional, undemocratic, and ineffective.
