Islamabad, November 25, 2025: Pakistan’s tennis legend Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi officially announced his retirement from professional tennis on Tuesday, bringing the curtain down on a distinguished international career spanning more than two decades.

The announcement was made during the opening ceremony of the first-ever ATP Challenger Pakistan, which began on November 23 at the PTF Tennis Complex in Islamabad — marking a historic milestone for national tennis and a fitting stage for Aisam’s farewell.

With this declaration, the ongoing event becomes the final professional tournament of his celebrated career.

The inauguration ceremony turned emotional as players, officials, and fans rose to honour Aisam under the floodlights, paying tribute to his achievements and his role in bringing unprecedented recognition to Pakistan on the global tennis stage.

In his farewell address, Aisam recalled the struggles of his early years and expressed profound gratitude to his family — especially his parents — for their unwavering support. He also thanked his coaches, mentors, fellow athletes, and the national sports media for standing by him throughout his journey.

The ceremony also featured the formal introduction of international and domestic players participating in the ATP Challenger Islamabad, adding further significance to the occasion.

Aisam’s retirement marks the end of an era for Pakistan tennis. His legacy — built on perseverance, professionalism, and global success — is expected to continue inspiring young players and contributing to the sport’s growth across the country.
