Guwahati, November 26,2025: Simon Harmer produced a match-winning performance, claiming nine wickets as South Africa crushed India by 408 runs in the second Test at Barsapara Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, completing a 2–0 series sweep.
Batting first, the Proteas posted a massive 489 in 151.1 overs, powered by a brilliant lower-order century from Senuran Muthusamy, who struck 109 off 206 balls, including 10 fours and two sixes. Marco Jansen also impressed with a blistering 93 off just 91 deliveries, hitting six fours and seven sixes.
For India, Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 115 in 29.1 overs, supported by Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Siraj, and Jasprit Bumrah, who claimed two wickets each.
In response, India were bowled out for 201, giving South Africa a commanding first-innings lead of 288. Yashasvi Jaiswal top-scored with 58, while Washington Sundar contributed 48. Marco Jansen dismantled India’s top order with figures of 6 for 48 in 19.5 overs, and Harmer added three wickets.
South Africa opted against enforcing the follow-on and batted again, declaring at 260 for 5 in 78.3 overs to set India a monumental target of 549. Tristan Stubbs impressed with 94 off 180 balls, Tony de Zorzi added 49, while Wiaan Mulder and Ryan Rickelton contributed 35 each. Jadeja bowled valiantly for India, taking four wickets, with Sundar claiming one.
Chasing an improbable target, India collapsed for 140 in 63.5 overs. Jadeja top-scored with 54, but no other batter offered meaningful resistance. Harmer ran through the Indian lineup with sensational figures of 6 for 37 in 23 overs, completing a remarkable match haul. Keshav Maharaj took two wickets, while Jansen and Muthusamy picked up one each.
The result sealed a dominant series victory for South Africa on Indian soil, with Harmer’s all-round brilliance standing out as the defining factor of the match.
