Lahore, December 14, 2025: The National Cybercrime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has issued a public advisory for WhatsApp users, urging immediate action if they lose access to their account or suspect unauthorized activity.
In its advisory, the NCCIA outlined steps for users to follow in case of a suspected hack. Users are advised to uninstall and reinstall WhatsApp, enter their phone number, and input the six-digit verification code sent via SMS. Entering the code will automatically log out the hacker, as WhatsApp can only be active on one device at a time.
The agency cautioned that users might be asked to wait seven days if the hacker has enabled two-step verification and the PIN is unknown. “There is no need to panic,” the NCCIA said. “Entering the SMS verification code immediately logs out the hacker. During the waiting period, no one can access the account or read messages.”
The advisory aims to raise awareness about cyber threats and provide clear guidance to protect users from unauthorized access to their WhatsApp accounts.
