ECNEC approves 11 development projects, revises Dasu Hydropower PC-1

Islamabad, December 20, 2025: The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC), chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, on Saturday approved 11 development projects spanning key sectors including transport, communications, and the environment.

According to a press release issued by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, the meeting was attended by the minister for planning, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, ministers from Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, federal secretaries of relevant ministries, and provincial heads of development departments.

During the meeting, ECNEC approved the revised PC-1 of the Dasu Hydropower Project, a major energy initiative aimed at strengthening the country’s power generation capacity.

The committee also approved a policy paper outlining training opportunities for up to 10,000 young engineers annually. Under the initiative, the engineers will be placed in various development projects to enhance technical capacity and support the timely execution of public sector schemes.
