Islamabad, January 3,2026: Pakistan on Saturday strongly rejected what it termed “irresponsible assertions” made by the Indian Minister of External Affairs, accusing India of attempting to deflect attention from its own record of promoting terrorism and contributing to regional instability.

Responding to media queries, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mr. Tahir Andrabi said Pakistan firmly rejects the Indian minister’s remarks, noting that India has once again resorted to blame-shifting to conceal its troubling conduct as a neighbour.

The spokesperson said India’s documented involvement in promoting terrorist activities in the region, particularly against Pakistan, is well known. He cited the case of Commander Kulbhushan Jadhav as a clear example of organised, state-sponsored terrorism directed at Pakistan. He also raised concern over recurring incidents of extraterritorial killings, sabotage through proxies, and covert support to terrorist networks, describing this pattern as consistent with extremist Hindutva ideology and its violent proponents.

Mr. Andrabi further stated that India continues its illegal and violent military occupation of Jammu and Kashmir. He reiterated that Pakistan remains steadfast in extending full political, moral and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people in their just struggle for the right to self-determination, in accordance with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.

Commenting on the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT), the spokesperson said the treaty is an international agreement concluded in good faith and at considerable cost. He warned that any unilateral violation of the treaty by India would undermine regional stability and seriously damage India’s credibility as a state that claims to respect international legal obligations.

He added that Pakistan will take all necessary measures to safeguard its legitimate rights under the Indus Waters Treaty.
