Azerbaijan Technical University delegation visits OIC-COMSTECH secretariat

Islamabad, January 3, 2026: A delegation from Azerbaijan Technical University visited the OIC-COMSTECH Secretariat and held a meeting with Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General, OIC-COMSTECH, to explore avenues for strengthening academic and scientific cooperation.

Welcoming the delegation, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary described Azerbaijan as an important and valued member of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and reaffirmed COMSTECH’s strong commitment to promoting academic, scientific and technological collaboration among OIC member states. He highlighted the importance of enhancing bilateral and multilateral cooperation through structured and sustainable mechanisms.

During the meeting, discussions focused on promoting the mobility of scholars, encouraging faculty and student exchanges, and fostering long-term academic partnerships between universities in Azerbaijan and OIC member countries.

Prof. Dr. Choudhary emphasized the need to establish permanent institutional mechanisms to ensure continuity, effectiveness and measurable outcomes of collaborative initiatives between Azerbaijan’s universities and OIC-COMSTECH.

The delegation appreciated the role of OIC-COMSTECH in advancing cooperation in science, technology and higher education across the OIC region and expressed keen interest in developing structured partnerships under COMSTECH’s framework.

Prof. Dr. Ishtiaq Ali, Focal Person of the COMSTECH Consortium of Excellence at Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad, along with officials of OIC-COMSTECH, were also present during the meeting.
