Islamabad, January 3, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Saturday departed for Beijing to co-chair the seventh round of the Pakistan–China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue, scheduled to be held on January 4 (Sunday).

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office (FO), Senator Dar is visiting China at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and will be the first foreign dignitary to visit China in 2026. The dialogue will be co-chaired by Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

The FO said the strategic dialogue will review the full spectrum of Pakistan-China bilateral cooperation, identify new areas of partnership, and further advance the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.

Earlier, the FO described the forum as the highest consultative mechanism between Pakistan and China, providing a structured platform to assess bilateral cooperation as well as regional and international developments of mutual interest.

During the dialogue, the two foreign ministers are also expected to announce a series of initiatives and commemorative activities to mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.

The FO added that the visit is part of regular high-level exchanges between the two sides and reflects their shared resolve to broaden and deepen cooperation, while reaffirming mutual commitment to regional peace, stability and sustainable development.

The sixth round of the Pakistan–China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue was held in Islamabad in August last year, during which Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met Senator Ishaq Dar, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari. At that time, China reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with Pakistan to promote regional peace, development and stability.
