Islamabad, January 3,2026: The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has successfully conducted the flight test of the indigenously developed Taimoor Weapon System, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Saturday.
According to the military’s media wing, the Taimoor Air-Launched Cruise Missile is capable of engaging enemy land and sea targets with high precision at a range of 600 kilometres. The ISPR described the development as another significant milestone in advancing Pakistan’s national aerospace and defence capabilities.
The system is equipped with a state-of-the-art navigation and guidance system and is designed to fly at very low altitudes, enabling it to effectively evade hostile air and missile defence systems. “Its precision-strike capability significantly enhances the conventional deterrence and operational flexibility of the Pakistan Air Force, further strengthening the country’s overall defence posture,” the ISPR statement read.
The successful flight test underscores the technical maturity, innovation, and self-reliance achieved by Pakistan’s defence industry, the statement added. Senior officers of the Pakistan Armed Forces, along with scientists and engineers who played a pivotal role in developing the system, witnessed the launch.
Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, congratulated the scientists, engineers, and the entire PAF team on this remarkable achievement. He praised their professional excellence, dedication, and unwavering commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s defence capabilities, emphasizing that such accomplishments reflect the nation’s resolve to achieve technological self-sufficiency and maintain a credible conventional deterrent in the evolving regional security environment.
“The successful test of the Taimoor Weapon System reflects the Pakistan Air Force’s continued pursuit of operational readiness, technological superiority, and national security objectives,” the ISPR press release noted.
The Taimoor test follows a similar achievement by the Pakistan Navy. In November last year, the Navy conducted a successful flight test of an indigenously developed ship-launched anti-ship ballistic missile. Like Taimoor, the Navy’s missile is capable of engaging both sea and land targets with high accuracy and features advanced guidance technology with enhanced manoeuvrability, allowing it to operate effectively in complex maritime environments.
