SC:PTI files contempt plea over non-compliance of reserved seats verdict

Islamabad, October 28, 2024-Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has submitted a contempt of court plea to the Supreme Court, citing the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) non-compliance with a ruling on reserved seats. In his plea, Raja has named members of the ECP as respondents.

Raja’s petition calls on the Supreme Court to begin contempt proceedings against ECP members, highlighting the lack of action following the court’s decision on reserved seats. The Supreme Court initially ruled on July 12 that PTI was eligible for these seats, overturning an earlier ECP decision from March 1. This judgment was reinforced with a detailed opinion issued last month.Bottom of Form
