Pakistan holds high-level meeting to strengthen economic ties with the EU

Islamabad, January 30, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar chaired a high-level inter-ministerial meeting focused on enhancing Pakistan’s economic and trade relations with the European Union (EU).

During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the importance of deepening trade cooperation, exploring new avenues for economic engagement, and leveraging the GSP Plus framework as a key instrument for mutually beneficial trade. He emphasized the need to maximize the potential of GSP Plus to support Pakistan’s economic growth.

The meeting was attended by the Federal Minister of Commerce, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, Foreign Secretary Amb. Amna Baloch, Secretaries of Commerce, Human Rights, and Human Resources, along with senior officials from relevant federal and provincial ministries and departments. The discussions focused on coordinated efforts to strengthen Pakistan-EU trade relations and identify new opportunities for bilateral economic collaboration.
