Islamabad, February 4, 2026: Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, in a message on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day, emphasized that the Kashmir issue remains one of the fundamental disputes stemming from the unfinished promises of the subcontinent’s partition. He stressed that a just and lasting resolution, in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions, is indispensable, and that sustainable peace in South Asia cannot be achieved without granting the Kashmiri people their internationally recognized right to self-determination.
The Speaker reaffirmed that the Parliament and people of Pakistan stand in full political, moral, and diplomatic support of their Kashmiri brothers and sisters. He highlighted decades of atrocities, human rights violations, and oppression faced by the Kashmiri people at the hands of Indian occupying forces, noting that the silence of the international community over these violations is deeply concerning.
He urged the global community to take notice of ongoing human rights abuses in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and to ensure effective implementation of UN Security Council resolutions. Speaker Sadiq stated that all attempts to suppress the voice of the Kashmiri people have failed, and their struggle for freedom cannot be subdued.
Terming the abrogation of the special status of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, 2019, as a violation of international law, he said such unilateral actions pose a serious threat to regional peace and stability. He condemned attempts to alter the demographic structure and erase the identity of the Kashmiri people, calling such measures unacceptable.
Paying tribute to the sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs and freedom fighters, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq described their struggle for freedom, dignity, and justice as a shining chapter in history. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to highlighting the Kashmir issue at every international forum in a comprehensive and effective manner.
Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, in his message stated that Kashmir Solidarity Day serves as a reminder that the Kashmiri people are not alone in their legitimate struggle. He emphasized that national unity, a strong diplomatic strategy, and consistent advocacy are essential to achieving a just resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
