Karachi, February 7, 2026: U.S. Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Natalie A. Baker conducted an extensive visit to Sindh Province from January 25 to 31, engaging political leaders, business executives, and community representatives to advance shared U.S.-Pakistan priorities in economic growth, technological development, and regional stability.

During her visit, CDA Baker toured major manufacturing facilities, including the advanced Continental Biscuits plant in Sukkur, a joint venture with U.S.-based Mondelez International. Highlighting the significance of U.S.-Pakistan economic collaboration, she remarked, “Nothing captures the spirit of the U.S.-Pakistan economic partnership quite like a shared success story where together we create jobs, drive innovation, and build mutual prosperity.” She emphasized that U.S. technologies and investments are helping Pakistani industries modernize, strengthen supply chains, and increase efficiency.

In Mirpurkhas, CDA Baker visited a sugar mill and an ethanol, CO₂, and paper plant, noting how modern operations support exports to the United States and enhance integration into global supply chains. “This successful, innovative operation shows how modern industry supports the growing U.S.-Pakistan economic relationship: reducing waste, adding value, and connecting Pakistani production to international supply chains,” she said. She highlighted the crucial role of local manufacturing and agricultural inputs, supported by the Indus River, in ensuring long-term economic stability.

In Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, Larkana, CDA Baker paid respects at the Bhutto family mausoleum, acknowledging its historical and cultural significance. She also met with Hindu community leaders to discuss interfaith harmony and the protection of civil liberties, reflecting the U.S. commitment to religious freedom.

CDA Baker visited Hyderabad’s Niaz Stadium to emphasize the shared U.S.-Pakistan commitment to sports, noting cricket’s upcoming Olympic debut at the 2028 Los Angeles Games and the development of a new PSL team by a U.S.-based investor in Hyderabad.

As part of the visit, Peter McSharry, Counselor for Political and Economic Affairs at the U.S. Consulate General in Karachi, engaged with local officials, including Sukkur Mayor Arsalan Shaikh and Sindh Assembly Speaker Awais Qadir, to discuss governance and commercial partnerships. At Sukkur IBA University, he reviewed the U.S.-funded STEMpowered initiative in collaboration with Vanderbilt University, aimed at workforce readiness and fostering innovation.

CDA Baker’s visit underscored the United States’ enduring commitment to a practical partnership with Pakistan that strengthens institutions, promotes self-reliance, and expands shared prosperity, as the U.S. celebrates the 250th anniversary of its independence.
