Karachi, February 12, 2026: The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Pakistan, Rear Admiral Fred Senevirathne, met with Dr. Zeelaf Munir, Chairperson of the Pakistan Business Council (PBC), in Karachi to discuss avenues for strengthening economic cooperation and enhancing bilateral trade and investment.

Dr. Munir, who also serves as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of English Biscuit Manufacturers (EBM), heads one of Pakistan’s leading business policy advocacy bodies that plays a pivotal role in fostering a conducive business environment, promoting exports, and supporting industrial growth.

The High Commissioner was warmly received at Dr. Munir’s office, where he briefed her on Sri Lanka’s current economic and political landscape. He highlighted the country’s improving economic outlook, growing political stability, and increasingly favourable climate for foreign investment. He further outlined the new government’s policy priorities, emphasizing ongoing economic reforms, investment-friendly initiatives, and opportunities to deepen economic and trade ties between the two countries.

During the meeting, Rear Admiral Senevirathne invited the PBC Chairperson to consider leading a delegation of prominent Pakistani business leaders and investors to Sri Lanka to engage with their Sri Lankan counterparts and explore potential investment opportunities across key sectors.

The meeting was attended by Mehmood Mandviwalla, Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka in Hyderabad, who facilitated the engagement, along with A. Christy Ruban, Minister and Head of Chancery at the Sri Lanka High Commission in Islamabad, and Sanjeewa Pattiwila, Consul General of Sri Lanka in Karachi.
