Rawalpindi, February 16, 2026: Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Syed Asim Munir met with Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Adviser of the United Arab Emirates, during a meeting held in Abu Dhabi on Monday.
According to a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the two sides discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation across a range of sectors, with particular emphasis on economic collaboration, investment, and security. Views were also exchanged on regional developments, with both leaders underscoring the importance of continued coordination to promote peace and stability in the region.
Field Marshal Asim Munir expressed his sincere appreciation and gratitude to the Government of the United Arab Emirates for its longstanding investments and continued support to Pakistan’s economy and security over the decades. He noted that this enduring support reflects the deep-rooted historical ties between the two brotherly countries and commended the constructive role of the UAE leadership in advancing Pakistan’s economic and social development.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to the bilateral partnership, the army chief stated that the security and stability of the United Arab Emirates are integral to Pakistan’s own security, given the strong strategic partnership and shared history between the two nations. He reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to continue joint efforts to further strengthen cooperation in all fields, in a manner that serves the mutual interests of both peoples and contributes to lasting peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.
