Bonanza Satrangi CEO faces backlash over controversial remarks on Iran’s Supreme Leader

Islamabad, March 3, 2026: Maryam Hanif Balwani, CEO of Bonanza Satrangi, sparked widespread criticism after posting remarks on X (formerly Twitter) about Iran’s slain Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and the Shia community. The post was later deleted but had already drawn significant attention online.

In the now-deleted post, Balwani reportedly referred to Khamenei as an “enemy of Islam” and extended similar criticism toward Shias. She also incorrectly identified Khamenei as the Prime Minister of Iran, a factual error that was widely noted on social media.

Screenshots of the post quickly circulated, triggering backlash from social media users who condemned the comments as inflammatory and divisive. The controversy escalated as hashtags calling for a boycott of Bonanza Satrangi began trending, with many urging consumers to stop supporting the brand.

Critics stressed that business leaders should exercise caution when making public statements, particularly on sensitive geopolitical and sectarian matters, to avoid inflaming tensions. Social media users have also demanded a public clarification or formal apology from the company.

As of now, Bonanza Satrangi has not issued an official response regarding the incident.
