Islamabad, March 10, 2026: Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif has written a letter to Mojtaba Khamenei expressing condolences on the martyrdom of his father, the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, while also congratulating him on assuming the responsibilities of the country’s top leadership position.
In his message, the prime minister conveyed the deepest condolences and prayers of the people of Pakistan to the leadership and citizens of Iran and the wider Muslim Ummah at what he described as a solemn moment.
Sharif said the martyrdom of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had deeply saddened the people of Pakistan, who stand in solidarity with the brotherly nation of Iran during this difficult period.
While congratulating Mojtaba Khamenei on taking up the responsibilities of Supreme Leader, the prime minister expressed hope that his leadership would guide Iran toward peace, stability, dignity, and prosperity in the years ahead.
The premier noted that relations between Pakistan and Iran are rooted in shared faith, history, culture, and language, emphasizing that the longstanding ties between the two countries remain strong.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to continue working closely with Iran to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest for the benefit of the two brotherly nations.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also prayed for the health and success of Mojtaba Khamenei and expressed hope for peace, stability, and prosperity for the people of Iran.
