Islamabad, March 13,2026: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the ongoing closure of the historic Jama Masjid in Srinagar, located in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir, on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramzan.

According to a statement from the Office of the Spokesperson, Pakistan described the action as a serious violation of religious freedom and fundamental human rights, noting that worshippers have been prevented from offering congregational prayers at one of the Valley’s most revered mosques.

The statement highlighted that, for the seventh consecutive year since India’s actions on August 5, 2019, the occupation authorities have sealed the mosque and barred Kashmiri Muslims from gathering for prayers on this spiritually significant day. Pakistan said such restrictions on religious practice, especially during Ramzan, are deeply concerning.

Pakistan urged the international community, including the United Nations and human rights organisations, to take notice of these actions and call on India to uphold the freedom to practise religion as a fundamental right in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
