Dhaka, March 13,2026: Pakistan all-rounder Salman Ali Agha was dismissed in an unusual and controversial manner during the second One-Day International against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Friday.
The incident occurred in the 38th over during a spell from Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Mohammad Rizwan attempted a defensive shot, and the ball spun toward Agha at the non-striker’s end. As he moved to pick up the ball and return it, Miraz seized the opportunity, collected the ball, and broke the stumps, leaving Agha stranded outside his crease.
The Pakistan batter expressed visible surprise and frustration, throwing his gloves and helmet as he walked back to the pavilion. Former cricketer Ramiz Raja described the run-out as technically correct but unusual, saying, “Within the technical rules, he was indeed run out, but in terms of sportsmanship…he got a massive blow. He was just about to return the ball to the bowler.”
Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez also voiced his disapproval on social media, calling the dismissal poor sportsmanship on the part of Miraz.
Earlier in the innings, Pakistan posted a total of 274 before being bowled out in 47.3 overs, powered by half-centuries from Maaz Sadaqat and Salman Ali Agha. Openers Sahibzada Farhan and Maaz Sadaqat set a blistering 103-run opening stand off 77 balls, with Maaz scoring 75 off 46 balls, including six fours and five sixes.
Pakistan’s innings stumbled briefly as Farhan and Shamyl Hussain fell to Taskin Ahmed and Nahid Rana, leaving the total at 122/3 in 19.3 overs. Agha and Rizwan revived the innings with a 109-run partnership for the fourth wicket, which ended bizarrely with Agha’s run-out. Rizwan contributed 44 off 59 balls.
For Bangladesh, Rishad Hossain took three wickets, Miraz two, while Taskin Ahmed, Nahid Rana, and Mustafizur Rahman claimed one wicket each.
The match highlighted both the brilliance of Pakistan’s batting lineup and the controversial moments that have sparked debate over sportsmanship in international cricket.
