Birmingham, September 12, 2026: Hosts England defeated Pakistan by eight wickets in the third Test at Edgbaston on Saturday to complete a 3-0 series sweep and register their first-ever home Test series whitewash against Pakistan.
The victory was England’s third consecutive and seventh overall in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle. Despite the win, England remained sixth in the standings with a winning percentage of 38.54.
Pakistan remained at the bottom of the table, with their winning percentage falling to 14.81. The Green Shirts have played nine Tests in the current WTC cycle, winning two and losing seven.
Australia continued to lead the standings with eight wins from 10 Tests, giving them 96 points and a winning percentage of 80.00. Defending champions South Africa were second with three wins from four matches, 36 points and a percentage of 75.00.
New Zealand occupied third place with 52 points and a 72.22 percentage, followed by Bangladesh with 40 points at 56.55. India were fifth with 68 points and a 51.52 percentage.

Pakistan entered the series after a 1-1 draw in the West Indies but were comprehensively beaten by England in the opening Test at Leeds, losing by an innings and 103 runs.
The visitors suffered another heavy defeat at Lord’s, going down by 194 runs. The result triggered a major mid-series overhaul, with Pakistan replacing seven players as well as head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul.
Pakistan showed greater resistance in the final Test at Edgbaston. Debutant Razaullah produced an impressive attacking innings in the second innings, while Mohammad Abbas struck twice in the first over of England’s run chase.
England, however, recovered to reach their target comfortably and secured an eight-wicket victory, completing the historic 3-0 whitewash.
