Rawalpindi, October 27,2026: Ethiopian Ambassador Dr. Oumer H. Oba has invited the business community of Rawalpindi to explore trade and investment opportunities in Ethiopia, highlighting the country’s economic reforms and potential across multiple sectors.

The ambassador made the invitation during an interactive session with members of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) on Tuesday.

Upon his arrival, he was received by RCCI President Nosherwan Khalil Khan, Senior Vice President Waseem Aslam, Vice President Ikram ur Rehman Abbasi and other members of the chamber’s executive body.

Dr. Oumer congratulated the newly elected RCCI office-bearers and wished them success in their tenure.

Addressing chamber members, the ambassador described Ethiopia as one of the world’s fastest-growing economies and a gateway to Africa. He highlighted the country’s strategic significance as the host of the African Union headquarters and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.

He said Ethiopia was open to trade and investment following domestic economic reforms that had opened several sectors to foreign direct investment. He also highlighted the country’s industrial parks, affordable and sustainable electricity, regional integration and international air connectivity through Ethiopian Airlines.

The ambassador shared details of a business delegation to Ethiopia being planned by the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad and invited Rawalpindi’s business community to participate in the visit to explore opportunities in agriculture, agro-processing, manufacturing, mining, information and communication technology (ICT) and tourism.

RCCI President Nosherwan Khalil Khan briefed the ambassador on the chamber’s activities and key business sectors. He called for efforts to strengthen trade and investment ties between Pakistan and Ethiopia, particularly in pharmaceuticals, surgical goods, textiles and agriculture.

Khan assured the ambassador of the chamber’s support and expressed keen interest in exploring Ethiopia’s trade and investment potential.

The meeting highlighted opportunities for greater engagement between the business communities of Pakistan and Ethiopia, with a focus on expanding commercial cooperation and identifying potential areas for investment.
