Birmingham, September 12, 2026: Experienced Pakistan seamer Mohammad Abbas was named joint Player of the Series alongside England’s Ollie Robinson after the hosts completed a 3-0 Test series whitewash at Edgbaston on Saturday.
Despite Pakistan failing to win a single match, Abbas enjoyed an impressive campaign, taking 13 wickets in five innings at an outstanding average of 25.38.
The 36-year-old also scored 86 runs in the series, including a career-best 42 in Pakistan’s second innings at Edgbaston. His contribution helped Pakistan avoid an innings defeat and set England a target of 130 runs.
Abbas had a relatively quiet opening Test at Headingley, where he managed just one wicket. He then produced his best bowling performance of the series at Lord’s, claiming nine wickets for 130 runs across two innings.
He followed his first-innings figures of 4-73 with a five-wicket haul in the second innings, his only five-for of the series.
In the third Test, Abbas took three wickets for 122 runs and contributed 63 runs with the bat.
Robinson, who shared the Player of the Series award with Abbas, finished as the series’ leading wicket-taker with 21 wickets in six innings at a remarkable average of 8.76.
The 32-year-old also scored 58 runs during the three-match series.
His standout performance came in the first innings of the opening Test at Headingley, where he claimed a five-wicket haul, his fifth in Test cricket.
England’s 3-0 victory marked their first-ever home Test series whitewash against Pakistan.
