Just before tea, Muthusamy sparked a collapse by removing Imam and Saud Shakeel (0) in successive balls as Pakistan slipped to 199 for four. Afterward, Mohammad Rizwan (75 off 140) and Salman Ali Agha (93 off 145) added a fighting 153-run partnership for the sixth wicket — the highest for Pakistan against South Africa at home. Muthusamy, however, returned to polish off the lower order, dismissing Noman Ali and Sajid Khan for ducks before bowling Shaheen Afridi (7) to complete his six-wicket haul. Subrayen took two wickets, while Rabada and Harmer picked one each. With the Proteas openers surviving a tricky final session, all eyes will be on Markram as South Africa aim to build a solid reply and narrow Pakistan’s lead on day two.
