Tehran, March 14, 2026: Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reiterated its support for the Palestinian cause and strongly condemned Israel and the United States in a statement issued on the occasion of International Quds Day.

The ministry noted that the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan was designated as International Quds Day by the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ruhollah Khomeini, to express solidarity with the Palestinian people and opposition to Israeli occupation.

According to the statement, Quds Day symbolizes the “unified protest of the Islamic world and freedom-seekers” against what it described as the usurpation of Palestinian land and the establishment of Israel in the region. The ministry said the day represents global opposition to violations of a nation’s right to self-determination and reflects a broader call for justice and human rights.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry accused Israel of committing severe human rights violations in the occupied Palestinian territories with the support of the United States and several Western countries. It alleged that the ongoing conflict in Gaza and violence in the West Bank are part of a longstanding policy aimed at displacing Palestinians since the creation of Israel in 1948.

The statement also criticized international institutions, including the United Nations, for what it termed a lack of effective action to hold Israel accountable.

Referring to recent regional tensions, the ministry said Iran was defending its sovereignty, national dignity and territorial integrity against what it called military aggression by Israel and the United States. It described such actions as a threat to the wider region and the Islamic world.

Reaffirming Iran’s longstanding policy, the ministry reiterated its support for the Palestinian people’s “legitimate struggle” to achieve self-determination and called on the international community to back the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

The statement also paid tribute to those who have lost their lives in what Iran describes as the “resistance” against Israel, including individuals from Palestine, Lebanon, Yemen, Iraq and Iran.

International Quds Day is observed annually across Iran and in several other countries, with rallies and events expressing support for Palestinians and opposition to Israeli policies.
