Islamabad, March 15, 2026: Federal Minister for Investment Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh has called on affluent members of parliament and cabinet ministers to contribute their salaries to the national exchequer amid Pakistan’s challenging economic situation.

Speaking to reporters outside Parliament on Saturday, Sheikh said lawmakers should demonstrate a spirit of selflessness and make financial sacrifices to help ease the burden on the public.

The minister revealed that he has been performing his duties voluntarily for the past 24 months without receiving any salary or official perks.

“I have been serving as a federal minister without drawing salary for the last two years,” he said, adding that such gestures could set a positive example and strengthen public trust in political leadership.

Sheikh also urged fellow cabinet members and parliamentarians to donate their salaries in support of the national economy, expressing confidence that his colleagues would respond positively.

He said many legislators were patriotic and capable of making such contributions for the greater national interest.
