Islamabad, March 17,2026: President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday extended warm felicitations to Catherine Connolly and the people of Ireland on the occasion of St. Patrick’s Day, highlighting shared values of peace, reconciliation and mutual respect.
In his message, the president said the day holds deep significance for the Irish people and communities worldwide, serving as a celebration of history, faith and traditions, as well as values such as peace, forgiveness and generosity.
He noted that while the occasion is marked by festivity and cultural warmth, it is also important to remember the suffering faced by people in conflict-affected regions, particularly in West Asia, where many continue to endure devastation and loss.
Referring to the legacy of Saint Patrick, President Zardari said his life symbolizes transformation, healing and reconciliation. He emphasized that Saint Patrick’s message of forgiveness and hope remains relevant, especially in today’s challenging global environment.
“The true test of humanity is not how fiercely we fight, but how courageously we pursue peace,” the president said, urging renewed commitment to compassion, dialogue, diplomacy and respect for human dignity.
Highlighting bilateral ties, he said Pakistan and Ireland share a strong commitment to multilateralism and peaceful cooperation, expressing confidence that relations between the two countries will continue to grow.
The president also conveyed his best wishes to the Irish leadership and people for a joyous celebration.
