Hong Kong, April 4, 2026: Pakistan’s rising squash star Muhammad Asim Khan clinched the World Championship Qualifying Event–Asia title after defeating Joachim Chuah in a thrilling final at the Hong Kong Football Club on Saturday.
The victory earned Asim a place in the PSA World Championships 2026, scheduled to be held in Giza from May 8 to 16, featuring top squash players from around the world competing for a prize purse of $700,000.
In an intense 82-minute final, Asim edged past Chuah 3-2, with game scores of 11-3, 13-11, 9-11, 3-11, 12-10. He made a strong start by winning the first two games, but Chuah fought back to level the match and force a deciding game.
Maintaining composure in the final game, Asim secured a narrow 12-10 win to seal the title. With this victory, he joins fellow Pakistanis Noor Zaman and Muhammad Ashab Irfan in qualifying for the global event.
Asim began his campaign with a commanding 3-0 win over Naoki Hayashi of Japan. He then defeated Hong Kong’s Chi Him Wong in the quarter-final and overcame Ming Hong Tang in the semi-final, winning both matches 3-2 to reach the final.
The title marks a significant achievement in Asim Khan’s career as he prepares to compete at the highest level of international squash.
