Dar, Portugal’s FM discuss regional situation, pledge stronger bilateral ties

Islamabad, April 6, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Monday held a telephone conversation with Portugal’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Paulo Rangel, focusing on the evolving regional situation and bilateral relations.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both leaders exchanged views on regional developments, with Ishaq Dar emphasizing the urgent need for de-escalation and reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to promoting lasting peace and stability.

The Portuguese foreign minister appreciated and supported Pakistan’s efforts to facilitate dialogue and diplomacy, acknowledging its constructive role in advancing regional peace.

The two sides also welcomed the positive momentum in bilateral relations between Pakistan and Portugal, agreeing to further strengthen cooperation across areas of mutual interest.

They underscored the importance of sustained high-level exchanges and agreed to remain in close contact on regional and international issues.
