Islamabad, April 7,2026: At an official ceremony at the Aiwan-e-Sadr Presidential Palace, The Ambassador of the Republica of Cuba, Damián Cordero Torres presented his letters of credence to the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari.

During the brief meeting following the official ceremony, the Cuban Ambassador thanked the Pakistani President for the hospitality extended since his arrival and for his government’s consistent opposition to the U.S. blockade against Cuba at the United Nations.

He also briefly commented on the difficult situation facing the island due to the intensification of the blockade.

For his part, the Pakistani president reaffirmed the long-standing friendly relations between the two countries, thanked Cuba for its support in the areas of health and education—including scholarships for medical studies—and discussed the potential for cooperation in health, biotechnology, and tourism, as well as collaboration in multilateral forums.

President Ali Zardari reiterated Pakistan’s deep gratitude for Cuba’s support during the 2005 earthquake, noting that this aid remains an enduring symbol of solidarity between the two nations.
