Pakistan, EU reaffirm commitment to dialogue amid evolving regional situation

Islamabad, April 14, 2026: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, held a telephonic conversation with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, to discuss regional developments and bilateral cooperation.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Deputy Prime Minister appreciated the regular and close engagement between Pakistan and the European Union amid the ongoing regional situation. He also shared key developments regarding the recently held Islamabad Talks, which have drawn international attention for their diplomatic significance.

Kaja Kallas commended Pakistan’s constructive and proactive role in facilitating direct negotiations between the United States and Iran in Islamabad. She acknowledged the country’s contribution to promoting peace and stability through dialogue and diplomacy.

Both leaders underscored the importance of continued diplomatic engagement and emphasized the need for peaceful resolution of conflicts through sustained dialogue. They reiterated their shared commitment to fostering stability in the region.

The two sides also positively assessed the growing cooperation between Pakistan and the European Union, agreeing to maintain close coordination and engagement on issues of mutual interest, including trade, security, and regional peace.

The conversation reflects strengthening Pakistan–EU ties and highlights Islamabad’s emerging role as a hub of international diplomacy.
