Islamabad, November 7, 2024- The federal government has approved substantial increases in allowances for judges of the Supreme Court and high courts. According to an official notification from the law ministry, the house rent and judicial allowances for these judges have been significantly raised.

For Supreme Court judges, the house rent allowance has increased from Rs. 68,000 to Rs. 350,000, while the judicial allowance has risen from Rs. 428,000 to Rs. 1,168,000. Similarly, high court judges will now receive an increased house rent allowance from Rs. 65,000 to Rs. 350,000, and a judicial allowance from Rs. 342,000 to Rs. 1,090,000.

This adjustment was implemented following approval from the acting president. Earlier in June, the National Assembly passed an amendment to raise allowances for Members of the National Assembly (MNAs), including an increase in travel allowance from Rs. 10 to Rs. 25 per kilometer. Additionally, the finance committee of the National Assembly was granted authority to adjust MNA salaries and allowances.
