Islamabad, April 24, 2026: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation on Friday with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, focusing on bilateral cooperation and evolving regional dynamics.
According to an official statement, the two leaders reviewed Pakistan–Russia relations and discussed cooperation at multilateral forums in support of international peace and security.
During the conversation, Lavrov appreciated Pakistan’s “constructive role” in facilitating dialogue between Iran and the United States, amid ongoing tensions in the region.
Dar reiterated Islamabad’s commitment to promoting dialogue and diplomacy as key tools for resolving conflicts, underscoring Pakistan’s continued efforts to contribute to regional and global stability.
The two foreign ministers also emphasised the importance of sustained high-level engagement between the two countries. In this context, they discussed rescheduling the visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Russia at a mutually convenient date.
Dar extended an invitation to Lavrov to visit Pakistan, which the Russian side welcomed.
Both sides agreed to remain in close contact and continue coordination on bilateral and international issues, reflecting growing engagement between Islamabad and Moscow in recent years.
