Islamabad, April 28, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Tuesday chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee for Monitoring and Implementation of Fuel Conservation and Additional Austerity Measures, reaffirming the government’s commitment to fiscal discipline amid ongoing economic challenges.

According to an official statement, the meeting reviewed the implementation status of austerity measures, with Dar expressing satisfaction over overall compliance. He stressed the need for continued adherence, urging all sectors to practice conservation and austerity until the situation improves.

The Minister for IT presented a digital dashboard developed to monitor the implementation of austerity measures, providing real-time tracking and oversight.

Dar underscored that only essential and time-sensitive cases should be considered for exemptions, directing that non-critical requests must not be brought before the committee.

The meeting was attended by federal ministers for IT and Climate Change, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, as well as secretaries from key divisions including Cabinet, National Security, Petroleum, and Planning. Chief secretaries of all provinces and other senior officials from relevant ministries also participated in the session.
