Chaman, April 29, 2026: Pakistani security forces have destroyed several Afghan Taliban posts and vehicles in Balochistan’s Chaman sector, security sources said on Wednesday, as tensions continue to escalate along the Pak-Afghan border.
The strikes were carried out under the ongoing Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, launched in response to what officials described as “unprovoked aggression” by Afghan Taliban forces and affiliated militants.
According to security sources, the Pakistan Army conducted precision strikes targeting multiple positions and vehicles, forcing enemy elements to retreat. “The Pakistan Army’s effective operations have compelled the Afghan Taliban and Fitna al Khawarij to withdraw,” the sources said.
The term “Fitna al Khawarij” is used by the state for militants belonging to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Officials reaffirmed that security forces remain committed to defending the country’s sovereignty. “The unwavering resolve of our forces is ensuring Pakistan’s territorial integrity,” the sources added, noting that operations will continue until all objectives are achieved.
The latest action follows similar strikes a day earlier, when multiple Afghan Taliban posts were reportedly destroyed in the Chaman sector.
On Sunday, Pakistani forces also targeted and destroyed gun positions in South Waziristan after Afghan Taliban fighters allegedly opened fire on civilians, injuring three people, including two women.
Pakistan has witnessed a resurgence in militant activity, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, with frequent attacks targeting security personnel and law enforcement agencies.
In response, Islamabad has intensified counter-terrorism operations and repeatedly urged the Afghan Taliban to dismantle militant sanctuaries on Afghan soil, especially those linked to the TTP. Pakistani officials say these concerns have largely gone unaddressed.
Operation Ghazab lil-Haq was launched on the night of February 26 following a series of cross-border attacks. Although a temporary pause was observed on March 18 at the request of friendly countries, Pakistan resumed the operation on March 26, vowing to continue until its strategic goals are met.
Security officials maintain that ongoing actions are part of a broader effort to stabilise border regions and curb the threat posed by militant groups operating across the frontier.
